Central Station Cafe sits snugly inside Montreal’s main train hub, making it a natural pitstop for commuters and visitors alike. This spot thrives on the steady rhythm of travelers catching their trains and locals seeking a reliable start to their morning. It’s a straightforward cafe with a focus on solid coffee, freshly toasted bagels, and easy grab-and-go options, catering to those who want quality without fuss.

The atmosphere is quietly energized yet relaxed, perfect for an early weekday morning when there's a buzz but no overwhelming crowd. Regulars appreciate the staff's ability to remember their orders—a small detail that sets it apart in a busy transit space. The coffee here earns particular praise for its rich, clean flavor, making it a dependable pick-me-up for anyone needing to wake up or recharge before a trip.

Besides the classic coffee and bagel combo, the cafe also offers quick meals like breakfast sandwiches and fresh poké bowls for those who prefer something a bit heartier or lighter. Pricing is fair, matching the convenience and quality, which helps the place maintain a steady flow of both working locals and travelers passing through.

Ideal times to visit are weekday mornings or early afternoons, when the station is bustling but the cafe still manages to feel cozy rather than rushed. Its location, right by the gates to Via Rail, means it’s often a last stop for travelers—and many customers take advantage of the no-line-up advantage compared to other nearby options.

Visitors will find in Central Station Cafe a practical, friendly spot that understands its crowd: people on the move who value good coffee, straightforward service, and a manageable bite to eat before heading out. It fits naturally into the transit-driven energy of downtown Montreal, offering a moment of ease amidst the busy flow of the city’s main train hub.

Love this place. Have come here frequently ever since I came for the first time a few months ago. I go for my standard order - black coffee and toasted bagel with jam. The gentleman at the counter in fact remembered the order after only a few times - that's great customer service. Love their coffee - perhaps the best one around. Bagel and jam are great. They're right next to the gates for Via and Exo trains, so very convenient location if you want to quickly grab something before getting on the train. Unfortunately they are open only till 1:30PM. I hope they stay open a little more in future. Love the interiors as well. Very thoughtful. The lady and the gentleman at the counter are very nice and friendly. Definitely recommended!!

If there is a reason I take my coffee/breakfast from this spot when I got bunch of spots next to my work place is that this place deserves the five stars for a lot of reasons, the great service, no line up, love their Bagel, Muffins etc… If you are about to travel or you’ve just arrived, I would recommend this cute coffee shop in the Central Train Station.

Grabbed a chicken poké bowl to go. The service was fast and welcoming. The bowl was great and fresh with a very fair price. Would recommend it to every traveller before you get on a train!

The best place to eat in all of Montreal, not only is there food amazing, but cheap. I would recommend the BLT. It was so good I had to go back while on vacation!

Last week, I had the pleasure of having lunch with a friend at Café de la Gare, and it was such a delightful experience. From the moment we walked in, the place felt like stepping onto a movie set. The décor is absolutely charming — vintage-style chairs and tables, beautiful wall art, and cozy lighting that creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Every corner seems thoughtfully designed to make you feel comfortable and inspired. We ordered sandwiches and coffee, and both were excellent. The sandwiches were fresh and flavorful, with generous portions and great presentation. The coffee was rich and aromatic. It’s the kind of place where you can easily spend hours chatting, reading, or simply enjoying the ambiance. The service was also outstanding. The staff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care about making sure we had a great time. Overall, Café de la Gare is a wonderful spot for a casual lunch or coffee break — a hidden gem that perfectly combines great food, lovely design, and a relaxed, inviting atmosphere.

I was there at 5a.m. today. The gentleman who attended to me was professional and friendly. Excellent tea and bagel. I will be back.
